Kevin Belzner, the band’s leader and founding member, played with Tim Williams for some 30 years – 15-plus years at much-loved Saturday afternoon jams at local Calgary bars. Kevin, The Porch Dog’s drummer, and Tim, played throughout Canada for three decades. Imagine the deep friendship that existed with these two after years of long car rides to and from the big and small of the music world.
During those years, Kevin became the first-call drummer for touring bands coming through Calgary. This work continues today with such bands as Texas-based Tremoloco and British Columbia’s James “Buddy Rogers.
Bill Price is The Porch Dogs’ bassist. Bill is the classic working man’s bassist. If a job comes up, he’ll get it done. He has built a reputation as a first-call musician. Bill and Kevin are frequently paired together to help touring groups navigate the challenging Canadian music scene.
Bill is a native Calgarian. He started playing guitar when he was 11-years-old. He switched to bass at age 16, playing primarily in rock cover outfits. Price took a break from music as a young man but returned to Calgary’s music scene in 2003. He honed his skills and formed a love affair with Blues music. It was during this period that he met Tim Williams and was ultimately asked to join Tim’s band in 2016.
Bill has played with many top artists, such as Sonny Rhodes, Bill Dowey, Brian McCullough, Jay Coda Walker, James Buddy Rogers and various touring artists that have passed through Calgary. He is well known for his solid bass lines, for his quick humour and as “The Big Red Dog” among his family and friends.
Mike Woodford is a seasoned professional drummer with over four decades of experience in the music industry. Known for his deep groove and versatile style, Mike has performed alongside an impressive roster of legendary artists including, Dutch Mason, James Cotton, Otis Rush, Luther Allison, Martha Reeves, Joe Hunter, and Sam Lay, as well as numerous R&B artists.
Based in Calgary, Mike continues to bring his passion and experience to the stage as a member of The Porch Dogs. His enduring dedication to rhythm and live performance has made him a respected figure in the Blues and R&B community.
Mitchell Brady is the youngest and newest member of The Porch Dogs. He joined the band in January 2026. He is featured on multiple tracks on the band’s Vol.1 record. He sings and plays guitar with a maturity that is seldom heard from one so young.
Mitch is also a member of the up-and-coming Jade Elephant band. When Mitch isn’t on big stages, he’s performing with his Bluegrass group and working as a guitar instructor. The instructor portion is a significant piece of Mitch’s background as he was one of Tim’s star pupils from the tender age of 13.
Steve Gerard plays guitar and sings with The Porch Dogs. Steve is a songwriter, having penned six songs for the band’s Vol.1 record. Steve founded and recorded three records with The National Debonaires from 2007-2016. His song “Ain’t Gonna Happen Again” from New Sounds from Kansas City was nominated for Song of The Year by the Blues Blast Music Awards in 2007. Steve was a member of The Sean Carney Band in 2005. He joined The Porch Dogs in 2021.
Steve is a recording engineer at Bette Jane Studios in Calgary. He has recorded multiple records for Tim Williams, Jory Kinjo and Jay Coda Walker. He recorded James “Buddy” Rogers new record “Covered in Blue”, as well as those for John Rutherford, Manitoba Hal and Little Kim.
